Orthopedic Doctor:

Dr. Rakesh Vali, DVM

Eye Doctor:

Dr. Brown received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University in 1992 and then performed a small animal internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York City.  He received a Master of Science degree for his biochemical study of animal tears during his residency at KSU. Dr. Brown became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists in 1996, when he started the ophthalmology practice in Little Falls, NJ. Dr. Brown’s special interests include diseases of the cornea, corneal surgery, intraocular surgery, diseases of the retina, ophthalmic photography and the role of oxidative stress and nutrition on diseases of the eye. He has written numerous scientific papers and is a noted national lecturer throughout the country, providing veterinary ophthalmology continuing education for veterinarians and technicians. Dr. Brown consults closely with research organizations to help improve ocular health and vision in animals and people.

The OFA exam procedure is performed to screen the eye for evidence of heritable eye disease.  Before the exam, the pupils are dilated with an eye drop.  After 10-15 minutes, the eyes are ready to examine.  Slit-lamp biomicroscopy and indirect ophthalmoscopy are techniques used to examine the eye.  Dr. Brown will discuss any relevant findings after the exam is complete.  An OFA form will be given to the owner indicating “normal” or otherwise if findings are noted.  Please bring your Animal ID numbers (microchip/tattoo) and registration numbers with you to the exam to fill out on the form.

Cardiac Doctor:

Dr. Schrope received his doctorate in veterinary medicine at the University of Minnesota in 1991.   He then completed a small animal internship as well as a 3 year cardiology residency at the Animal Medical Center in New York City.  He became board certified in cardiology in 1995.

Dr. Schrope started his career at Garden State Veterinary Specialists in southern New Jersey where he was the first board certified clinical cardiologist practicing in the state.  Soon after he joined The Veterinary Referral Centre and Cardiopet in Little Falls NJ.  In 2002 he established the cardiology department at the Oradell Animal Hospital in Paramus NJ where he currently practices.  In addition he provides cardiology consultation to the North Shore Animal League in New York, one of the largest animal shelters in the nation.

Dr. Schrope’s special interests include echocardiography as well as diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart disease and interventional cardiology of which he has authored numerous scientific papers.   He has lectured and instructed in multiple venues along the east coast on topics including echocardiography, pulmonary hypertension, diagnosis and treatment of congestive heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, syncope, and congenital heart disease.

Dr. Schrope will be performing auscultations and echocardiograms for OFA certification.  Neither test generally requires sedation or shaving although there are occasional exceptions. The results will be recorded on a standard OFA form which the owner will be given a copy of and the results discussed.  The echocardiogram report will not extend beyond the OFA form and images of the echocardiogram will not be available to the owner. The results of the auscultation and/or echocardiogram will be submitted to the OFA at the owner’s request.  Please bring your animals ID number (microchip or tattoo number) to place on the OFA forms.

The auscultations and echocardiograms are meant to be for certification only.  Dr. Schrope will not be reviewing or discuss history or treatment plans with patient owners.  If further consultation is needed he would be happy to see you on appointment at the Oradell Animal Hospital in Paramus NJ (201-262-0010).

Chiropractor:

Dr. Jacoba Nassar received her DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) degree upon graduation from the Atlantic Veterinary College in Prince Edward Island, Canada, & became an associate veterinarian in private practice in Pittsburgh, PA.  While here, exposure to a holistic approach of medicine caught her interest, & she decided to pursue advanced veterinary chiropractic training to enhance her approach of optimal medicine and comprehensive quality of care.  She received her VSMT (Veterinary Spinal Manipulative Therapy, also known as chiropractic) certification from the Healing Oasis Wellness Center; the only nationally accredited chiropractic school in the country.  This is an intense 226 hour post-graduate education certification program with an emphasis on functional and integrative neurology in both canine and equine patients.  Shortly thereafter, she moved to Connecticut to be closer to extended family, and has been established as a long term associate at a full service private practice, where she practices both conventional medicine, as well as chiropractic/applied neuroanatomy techniques.  By integrating chiropractic techniques with traditional care. she has demonstrated & appreciated significant improvement in success rates of treatments and overall well-being of her patients.
